Dangerous material packaging

Subject to labelling obligations acc. the Hazardous Materials Law and the European Convention on the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road and/or acc. GHS.

All-round carefree service for your packaging return

With the RIGK-PICKUP trademark on your packaging, you as an industrial, commercial or agricultural final user can depend on convenient and uncomplicated disposal, because we collect the empty used packaging directly on site and ensure that it is professionally recycled – free of charge, reliably and legally.

Which packaging is returnable?

Through RIGK-PICKUP, we collect both packaging for non-hazardous substances and packaging for hazardous substances. This last concerns products which are subject to labelling obligations according to the Hazardous Substances Law, the European Convention on the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road, and/or acc. GHS. Depending on the hazard potential, they are classified into reprocessing groups. Packaging containing gases or explosive, infectious or radioactive substances will not be collected.

How does the return work?

As a commercial and industrial final user, you can register your empty packaging bearing the RIGK-PICKUP trademark for collection via your RIGK-PICKUP partner – you will be informed by us about the collection dates via email. Depending on the requirements, you can choose between collection sacks, containers, pallets or pallet cages for collection. These are then provided to you via your RIGK-PICKUP partner. For disposal purposes, the RIGK-PICKUP system makes use of a pool of certified waste disposal companies already also active for other systems. These are generally also commissioned as carriers, as they have their own transport logistics.

For information on the collection of packaging for hazardous substances, please contact our RIGK Team on the telephone number 0611 30860038 or via email to pickup-entsorgung@rigk.de in order to organise optimised return which takes the hazardous substance classifications into consideration.

According to waste legislation, the packaging is taken back as EAK Waste Code 15 01 10* (“packaging which contains residues from hazardous substances or has been contaminated through hazardous substances”). As verification of correct disposal, you will receive from us a waste legislation takeover note or a taking-back protocol.

Sustainable recycling

With RIGK-PICKUP, you can be sure that your packaging is efficiently recycled in terms of sustainable closed loop recycling management: Packaging for non-hazardous substances and sorted packaging is processed to form granulate, so that new plastic products can be produced. Packaging for hazardous substances is on the other hand energetically recycled in order to generate electricity, steam and district heating. The waste incinerators selected by us have all the legal permits and fulfil the prerequisites laid down in the closed loop recycling management law (KrWG). Under certain prerequisites, mechanical recycling in approved treatment plants is also possible.

Additional advantages of the PICKUP SYSTEM are explained by the system manager, Jens Dambeck, in our series #RIGKinquired.
