Disposing of packaging: Which types are taken back?

Via the RIGK-SYSTEM, you can dispose of your industrial and commercial packaging that has been used for non-hazardous substances. The packaged products may not be classified according to the Hazardous Substances Law or the European Convention on the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road, or acc. GHS. The packaging may not bear any hazard symbols.

FILMS: FILM SACKS*, INNER SACKS FOR SOLIDS, STRETCH AND SHRINK FILMS

Film sacks, stretch and shrink films, inner sacks for solids - the many different types of film packaging are used intensively in industry, commerce and agriculture and play an important role in the field of plastics recycling.

RIGID PACKAGING: BOTTLES, CANISTERS, BUCKETS AND BARRELS

Bottles, canisters, buckets and barrels - rigid packaging of plastic are used in almost all industries to store a wide variety of liquid and solid products. After the period of use, you can hand in each rigid packaging with the RIGK trademark at our collection points. We dispose of the plastic containers for you - and take care of the optimal recycling of plastics, from which ideally new plastic recycling products can be created again.

FLEXIBLE BULK CONTAINERS: FLEXIBLE IBC, WOVEN BAG AND BIG BAG DISPOSAL

Flexible IBCs (Intermediate Bulk Containers) such as big bags and fabric sacks fulfil a wide variety of functions as stable and inexpensive bulk containers: for example, product packaging, transport or storage. Despite the reusability, the question of fabric bags and big-bag disposal arises after longer use. If it is marked with the RIGK symbol, you can return your big bag to our collection points - and we will take care of the sustainable big bag recycling.

COMBINED PACKAGING

In addition to the FIBC/Big Bags mentioned above, we take back a wide variety of combined packaging in a sustainable manner. In this context, "design for recycling" is significant. The design of the packaging plays a decisive role in recycling. Small adjustments often significantly change the recyclability of the packaging. Therefore, it is important to design the packaging as efficiently as possible, keeping the entire life cycle in mind. The use of different materials in a packaging concept is usually not conducive to mechanical recycling.

CARDBOARD BOXES, OCTABINS, FIBERDRUMS AND PAPER BAGS

You can not only dispose of plastic packaging via the RIGK-SYSTEM: At our collection points you can dispose of a wide variety of licensed cardboard packaging including octabins and cardboard drums (fiberdrums), as well as paper sacks free of charge.

Please refer to the PDF with our summary for commercial and industrial final user for the exact specifications for the return of all types of packaging.

ONE-WAY PALLETS AND PACKAGING AIDS

You can not only return sales packaging via the RIGK-SYSTEM: You can dispose of licensed packaging aids and one-way pallets free of charge at our collection points.

How does the return work?

If you wish to dispose of used packaging via the RIGK-SYSTEM in an uncomplicated and proper manner, you must observe the following requirement in advance: Whether disposing of films, containers or big bag returns - only packaging that is "completely empty" can be accepted at our collection points. This means "drip-free" for liquid products, "free-flowing" for solids and "spatula-clean" for viscous, pasty, sticky or similar substances; Furthermore, they must be free of foreign objects which are not part of the packaging such as paper, cardboard, wood, adhesive tapes, different types of plastic, metals or similar. Packaging which has contained strong-smelling products must be pre-treated.

In addition, we must document every delivery in the RIGK-SYSTEM with an acceptance note, which you have to complete in advance and must label with your company stamp and the agreement number under the RIGK trademark on your packaging. You will receive a receipt from your collection point. This process is important for our documentation under waste legislation and for your proof of proper disposal and recycling of plastics to the supervisory authority.

Recycling: How does real sustainability work?

Since 1992, we have been committed to one task: To make the disposal of packaging waste as simple and safe as possible - and to ensure the best possible recycling with state-of-the-art plastic recycling. Because only through a successful circular economy we can achieve as a society true sustainability and efficient environmental protection.

INNOVATIVE RECYCLING SOLUTIONS

Our employees develop, implement and operate innovative take-back systems and solutions for the recycling of packaging and plastics - building on many years of experience and extensive know-how. To achieve this, we use state-of-the-art technologies, optimise processes and work closely with our customers and partners.

As a system operator, we carefully select the recycling companies we work with. We ensure that all plants have the necessary legal permits and meet the requirements for proper disposal as defined by the Closed Substance Cycle Waste Management Act. The technical processes and recycling options of the recyclers are different, but the process generally consists of refining or recycling pure plastics and other materials.

You can find a more detailed explanation of the recycling process on our homepage under How recycling works at RIGK.

It is essential that you observe the following:

The RIGK-SYSTEM must not be confused with the RIGK-G(hazardous substance)-SYSTEM for packaging for hazardous substances. It is essential that these systems are handled separately from one other!
