for the takeback of empty used Big Bags of non-hazardous substances as well as associated transport and secondary packaging from the agricultural sector.
VerenA (Packaging Recovery for Agriculture – Verpackungsentsorgung Agrar) is a joint solution provided by industry associations and RIGK for the environmentally friendly takeback and recycling of Big Bags used in the agricultural sector. Packers/fillers/distributors that participate in the VerenA-SYSTEM will fulfill their take-back and recycling obligations as defined in article 15 of the German Packaging Act (VerpackG). Learn more about the system and how you can participate.
The approximately 400 collection points planned nationwide are provided by the trade. In future, all collection points near you, and the drop-off dates and times can be found on our official VerenA homepage www.verena-recycling.de.

The VerenA trademark will indicate to your German customers that they, as final consumers, can drop off their empty Big Bags at any VerenA collection point throughout Germany for free in a completely easy and environmentally friendly manner. You as a licensee will place the VerenA trademark on your packaging to inform consumers that you participate in the system.
VerenA Trademark Labelling Guidelines
The VerenA-SYSTEM collection points will accept Big Bags with the VerenA trademark of non-hazardous substances from the agricultural sector. These collection points will also accept the licensed transport and secondary packaging that go along with the VerenA-SYSTEM Big Bags. All VerenA-licensed Big Bags that are dropped off must be completely empty, free of trickles, clean on the outside and have a legible product label. They can be handed in rolled up and tied together and then placed in a single outer Big Bag. Trained staff at the collection points will inspect all deliveries as to whether they comply with the VerenA Terms of Acceptance.
As a VerenA-SYSTEM customer, you will act in a manner that protects the environment and promotes sustainability. Proper drop-offs and takeback of separated materials will make it possible to send the empty Big Bags directly on to our recycling partners, where the bags will be put through various processing steps such as shredding and cleaning and then ultimately used to create high-quality recyclate. This PP recyclate can then be used to manufacture various types of plastic products – which completes the cycle.
The VerenA recovery system will be operated by the German agricultural industry in cooperation with four industry associations and RIGK. These industry associations are:
Together, these associations make up the “Interessengemeinschaft (IG) VerenA” (VerenA Interest Group)
It’s both easy and beneficial for you to participate in the VerenA-SYSTEM as a packer/filler/distributor: after you sign a VerenA agreement with us and register at the VerenA customer portal, you will be able to place the VerenA trademark on your Big Bags. The fee you pay will then depend on the type and weight of the Big Bags and transport and secondary packaging that you have in circulation in Germany. This licence fee covers all costs for the takeback and recycling of your VerenA-licensed packaging in compliance with relevant laws. A trustee will monitor the customer portal, the quantities that are registered there and the subsequent invoicing process, whereby the trustee will be available to answer any questions you may have.
It’s all as easy as can be:
Why not choose to participate in the VerenA-SYSTEM as a packer/filler/distributor of Big Bags – and help us ensure we all act in a responsible and sustainable manner!
