RIGK trademark users from the fields of industry, trade and agriculture receive from us a mark of recognition for their active environmental protection and active product responsibility: the climate protection certificate. This certificate confirms the annually-achieved CO2-savings in kilograms, clearly displayed through the number of trees which bind the appropriate quantity of greenhouse gases per year.
To be able to calculate these values for each of our customers individually, RIGK, together with the Fraunhofer Institute for the Environment, Safety and Energy Technology (UMSICHT), has set up a CO2 balance based on the ISO standards 14040 and 14044 for four recovery systems: RIGK-SYSTEM, RIGK-G-SYSTEM, PAMIRA and RIGK-PICKUP.
The reference system for our calculations reflected in our climate protection certificates are the respective actually recycled quantities. One cycle in the recycling circuit is used for the balance: the negative side of the material flow balance contains all the CO2 emissions incurred during collection, transportation and during the material or energetic recycling of plastic waste. In contrast, the respective credits from the material use through savings in primary granulate or from the energy obtained for the energetic recycling are listed on the positive side of the balance.
From the entire ecological balance in the year 2022, for example, saving of 56,265 t CO2 results across all the RIGK-systems. The total reduction corresponds to the calculated greenhouse gas emissions from over 4 million trees per year in Europe.
