Crop Plastics Recycling Germany (ERDE) recycling

For the recovery of used plastics from the agricultural sector

ERDE (Crop Plastics Recycling Germany) is the collaborative solution by producers, the IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen e. V. (Industrial Association for Plastic Packaging) and RIGK for the environmentally-friendly recovery and recycling of used plastics from the agricultural sector. Find out more about the system, types of plastic recovered and your possibilities for participation.

Unique recovery concept

In particular in such a nature-orientated branch as agriculture, plastics may not pollute the environment after their use. On the basis of this conviction, members of the IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen e. V (Industrial Associations for Plastic Packaging e. V.) has, together with RIGK, developed the Crop Plastics Recycling Germany (ERDE)recovery system: for a sustainable  and resource-saving agricultural economy, very different crop plastics are recovered across Germany and recycled – at particularly favourable conditions.

Participating manufacturers from the crop plastics sector currently are:

  • Silage film: Groupe Barbier, Berry Group, Plastika Kritis, Polifilm, RANI, RKW, Solplast, SOTRAFA, TRIOWORLD
  • Stretch film: Aspla, Groupe Barbier, Berry Group, CLAAS, CORDEX, Coveris, DUOPLAST, Manuli, Polifilm, RANI, TRIOWORLD
  • Nets: CLAAS, CORDEX, Karatzis, Novatex, PIIPPO, RKW, TAMA
  • Baler twine: CLAAS, CORDEX, PIIPO, Reyenvas, SICOR, TAMA, WKI Tegafol
  • Asparagus film: Daios Plastics S.A., Polifilm, Reyenvas S.A.
  • Perforated film: RKW, SOTRAFA
  • Nonwovens: Berry Group, RKW, Tencate Toptex

Which packaging is returnable?

At the ERDE collection points, every farmer can hand in used silage sheets, underlayer films, silo tubes, silage stretch film, net replacement films, asparagus films, perforated films, round bale nets, baler twine, nonwovens and mulching film at a favourable price. Trained personnel conduct checks on site as to whether all hand-in criteria – sorted collection, rough cleaning, no foreign materials – have been fulfilled. Asparagus farmers can contact RIGK directly for the return of asparagus film.

Sustainable recycling

Disposing of agricultural plastics in a reliable, environmentally-friendly and sustainable manner  becomes very simple due to the collaboration between producers and farmers in the ERDE service. After collection, the plastics are crushed, washed and melted into regrind in recycling plants via material recycling – and used for the production of very different plastic products. The recycling cycle is closed, resources are spared and the environment protected!

Become a member, and shoulder the responsibility together

Whether you are a producer or a first distributor of crop plastics, or a farmer and supply agency which uses crop plastics, or a company active in the field of collection points – in the recovery process of ERDE, all participants are actively involved.

Here the producers voluntarily bear costs so that the agricultural branch can utilise a nationwide recovery system.

Are you a company which produces crop plastics or puts them on the German market as first distributor? In that case, become an ERDE member and voluntarily take on mutual responsibility for a sustainable agricultural economy.

You can obtain all information on membership on the ERDE website!
