The PAMIRA trademark and PAMIRA SEED DRESSINGS

The PAckMIttel-Rücknahme Agrar (Packaging Recovery Agriculture) (PAMIRA®) guarantees, together with the industrial association Agrar e. V., the responsible and controlled recovery and recycling of used seed dressing packaging.

Seed dressing packaging from 50 litres upwards represents a special case as it cannot generally be technically rinsed. In contrast to the PAMIRA-SYSTEM packaging it has to be treated as packaging for hazardous substances. Through PAMIRA SEED DRESSINGS, professional seed-treatment plants, traders and seed producers are able to hand in their used packaging free of charge within a determined time period – generally in the first week of March– to one of our nationwide collection points in the SEED DRESSING SYSTEM. The recovery generally does not take place via the trade, but rather through suitable special waste companies from the recycling industry.

Which packaging is returnable?

At the SEED DRESSING-SYSTEM collection points, seed dressing packaging bearing the PAMIRA trademark can be handed in. This generally concerns the 50 and 200 litre barrels, which frequently contain small amounts of active ingredient and rinsing residues.

For reliable and environmentally-friendly disposal, the returned packaging must amongst other things be labelled with the contractual PAMIRA trademark and be closed with the original seal, and the label must be firmly adhered and legible. For return, RIGK must be informed by form of the delivery quantity the beginning of January prior to the defined return time period. A taking back protocol must be filled in for delivery.

Sustainable recycling

PAMIRA SEED DRESSINGS has supplemented the PAMIRA-SYSTEM since 2003 and is a separate and simple solution for the reliable and sustainable disposal of empty seed dressing packaging – and it works! After successful acceptance, the collected packaging is recycled energetically in order to generate electricity, steam and district heating.

Become a trademark user and act responsibly

The PAMIRA disposal system was developed at the beginning of the 1990’s by the German plant protection industry on a voluntary basis together with the agricultural wholesale trade. The collaborative objective was and is to act together responsibly for increased protection of the environment, to promote safety and to maintain people’s health. The recovery of large seed dressing packaging is a separate recovery system within the scope of PAMIRA: the promoter of the project is the Chemie Wirtschaftsförderungs-GmbH, Frankfurt am Main.

All the costs are borne by the producers.Every year in spring, a cost-free recovery campaign for used seed dressing packaging (from 50l) takes place. Up to a fixed date RIGK is informed about the number of barrels the final consumer would like to hand in.
