Environmentally-friendly films growing in importance – ERDE WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS

In line with the motto “Together for the environment”, all those involved play an active role in ERDE, the recovery initiative for crop plastics. The manufacturers in the initiative provide financial support in order to guarantee farmers good-value film collection and material recycling. Membership of ERDE is open to any manufacturer or initial seller of films who supplies the German market. New ERDE members as of this year include film manufacturers Groupe Barbier (France), DUO PLAST AG (Germany), Ab Rani Plast Oy (Finland) and RPC bpi group (Belgium). Together with the manufacturers already involved – Manuli Stretch Deutschland GmbH, POLIFILM EXTRUSION GmbH, RKW Agri GmbH & Co. KG and TRIOPLAST GmbH – they will work to turn their used films into raw materials.

The German agricultural trade also actively supports the ERDE system by operating collection points and advertising film recovery. By purchasing environmentally-friendly ERDE films and handing waste film in to ERDE collection points, farmers are making an active contribution to protecting the environment.

Apps help farmers with environmentally-friendly disposal of their agricultural films

The ERDE app supports users of agricultural films by making disposal of agricultural plastics as convenient as possible for them.

It is available free of charge for iPhone and Android phones from the usual app stores (search for: erde recycling).

Developed by system operator RIGK, the app offers a collection point finder that lists the nearest collection points and collection times based on the user's current location. A map shows nearby collection points and how to get there. Once the user has chosen a preferred collection point, the app provides reminders of collection dates. App users also receive all important information on the ERDE service: Acceptance criteria for the recovery of agricultural films, a free hotline for urgent enquiries, and a telephone number and email address for more information. In the News box, users can find the latest news on the ERDE recovery system, new statutory regulations and RIGK.
